With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I thought now would be a good time to share something that’s dear and close to my heart.

I was in East London to shoot a wedding and visited my friend @bianca_bieske .We were sitting on the couch catching up over a cup of tea, when she mentioned she wished we had done a maternity shoot! I said, let’s do one right now. We quickly went to her bedroom, and couldn’t find anything for her to wear, we only had 30 mins before I had to leave, so I looked around, saw the light by her bedroom french doors and the sheer curtains, and quickly turned to her and asked, can I shoot you nude in these???

I have always been fascinated by the power of feminine energy. And recently in my own life I’ve learnt to let go of the old thoughts that you have to be hard and tough to be strong in this world. In fact it’s the exact opposite! Once you step into your softness as a woman, you tap into the most incredible inner strength and power. A strength and power that isn’t the loudest in the room, one that isn’t proud or boastful, but rather a subtle strength and energy that people can feel whenever they are around you. I couldn’t think of anything more soft, nurturing, and gentle; yet unbelievably powerful and strong than a woman and a mother about to give birth and create new life.

After our shoot I asked Bianca if I could do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and that’s create one print and artwork using her favourite image. Have a look to see the before and after.
